Legion Releases Separate Statement Generator for California Discovery Motions

Tool covers all four written discovery types and pairs requests with responses automatically

SAN JOSE, Calif. — March 19, 2026 — Legion today released its Separate Statement Generator, giving California litigation attorneys an AI-powered tool to draft the line-by-line separate statements required on motions to compel further responses. Attorneys upload the discovery requests and the opposing party's responses, Legion pairs them together automatically, the attorney selects which requests to include, and the platform produces a fully formatted separate statement with the supporting legal authorities built in.

Separate statements are among the most tedious documents in California civil litigation. The California Rules of Court require an exhaustive, request-by-request presentation of every disputed interrogatory, request for production, or request for admission – with the full text of the request, the full text of the response, and a focused statement of the factual and legal reasons why a further response should be compelled. In heavily objected sets, a single separate statement can run well over 200 pages, and even getting a shell put together – before any substantive argument is drafted – can take paralegals or assistants hours of copy-paste work. Drafting the substance on top of that often stretches across multiple days. The Separate Statement Generator removes the assembly work entirely. Legion ingests the discovery set and the responses, matches each request to its response, and lets the attorney check off which ones belong in the motion. From that point it is a single click to a court-ready document. The tool supports all four written discovery types: Special Interrogatories, Form Interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission.

“Nobody wants to write a separate statement. Just building the shell takes a paralegal hours of copy-paste, and a heavy set can run over 200 pages before anyone has touched the actual argument. Legion takes the assembly work off the table – upload the requests and responses, click the ones you care about, and the statement is ready for substantive review.”
