Legion Adds Notice of Motion Drafting to Its Litigation Automation Platform

SAN JOSE, Calif. — June 10, 2025 — Legion today released its Notice of Motion workflow, expanding the platform's document generation capabilities beyond pleadings and into motion practice. California litigation attorneys can now upload their memorandum of points and authorities and generate a fully formatted Notice of Motion with accurate statutory citations and a complete statement of the relief requested.

The Notice of Motion Builder follows the same upload-and-generate workflow that Legion established with its Complaint Builder. Attorneys upload their MPA and the platform produces a draft notice that conforms to California Rules of Court formatting requirements, drawing the substance directly from the brief itself. The tool integrates with Legion's existing matter management system, so the MPA is already available if it was drafted on the platform. The notice of motion is often treated as an afterthought – a formality to get the motion on calendar – and that is exactly where attorneys get burned. A wrong code section, insufficient detail about the relief requested, a failure to specify who sanctions are sought against or in what amount: these are the kinds of defects opposing counsel can exploit to delay or derail a motion. Legion produces a comprehensive, properly detailed notice from the substance of the MPA, giving attorneys one less thing to worry about and opposing counsel one less angle to attack.

“Attorneys treat the notice of motion like a formality and opposing counsel treats it like an opportunity. It takes less time to get it right with Legion than it used to take to get it wrong.”

— Arthur Rothrock, Founder and CEO of Legion
