Legion Adds Request for Judicial Notice Builder and Extends Declaration Support to Witnesses

New workflows reuse the same slip sheet and PDF bookmark assembly Legion built for the Attorney Declaration – a court-ready packet in one click

SAN JOSE, Calif. — May 19, 2026 — Legion today released its Request for Judicial Notice (RJN) Builder and extended its declaration workflow to cover witness declarations. Both releases plug into the same exhibit-packaging system Legion launched alongside its Attorney Declaration Builder last month: attorneys upload the underlying records, and Legion produces a fully drafted document and a court-ready PDF with exhibit slip sheets inserted and PDF bookmarks built in to every item.

The RJN Builder is purpose-built for California motion practice. Attorneys upload the records they want judicially noticed – pleadings from a related action, court orders, recorded instruments, statutes, agency records – and Legion drafts the request under Evidence Code sections 451 and 452, stating the proper basis for each item. The result downloads as either an editable Word document for sign-off or a finished PDF with slip sheets inserted between every noticed item and PDF bookmarks built in to each one. The bookmark layer is the part most teams skip and most judges quietly appreciate: it means the court can open the filing, expand the outline, and jump directly to any exhibit without scrolling through hundreds of pages.

The Witness Declaration workflow extends the same machinery Legion released for attorney declarations on April 16. Attorneys upload the exhibits the witness will authenticate or describe, say generally what the declaration is meant to support, and Legion drafts a witness declaration grounded in the actual case record – not a generic template, but a declaration built from the facts and supporting materials in the file. The exhibit references are formatted consistently throughout, the attestation language is applied under penalty of perjury, and the final PDF comes back with the same slip sheet and bookmark assembly as the attorney declaration and the RJN. Witness declarations, attorney declarations, and requests for judicial notice now share one filing-packet pipeline.

Both workflows integrate with Legion's existing Notice of Motion and Memorandum of Points and Authorities tools, so the brief, the notice, the supporting declarations, and the RJN can all be generated from a single set of uploaded case materials and filed as a coordinated package.

“Once we built the slip sheet and bookmark assembly for the attorney declaration, the rest of the motion packet was obvious. Requests for judicial notice and witness declarations are the same shape of problem – an authenticating document with a stack of exhibits behind it. Now all three come out of one workflow, with the slip sheets in place and the PDF outline already pointing the court at every exhibit. That is what a finished filing packet is supposed to look like.”
