Legion Adds Unverified Answer Builder to Its Litigation Platform
SAN JOSE, Calif. — February 9, 2026 — Legion today launched its Answer Builder, giving California litigation attorneys an AI-powered tool to draft unverified answers to civil complaints. Attorneys upload the incoming complaint and any documents that may support an affirmative defense, and Legion analyzes everything, proposes applicable affirmative defenses, and drafts a fully formatted answer under the California Code of Civil Procedure.
Putting together an unverified answer is a slog. Defense counsel has to think through which affirmative defenses apply, track down the right language for each one, and assemble them into a coherent document – all within 30 days of service. The Answer Builder changes that workflow. Attorneys upload the opposing complaint and any case documents that might support a defense, and Legion reviews everything and proposes a list of applicable affirmative defenses for the attorney to consider. Attorneys can remove what does not apply and drag to reorder the remaining defenses by strength. Once the list is finalized, a single click drafts a fully formatted, court-ready answer. It is the same upload-and-generate experience attorneys already know from the Complaint Builder, now applied to the defense side.
“Defense attorneys have been asking for this since we launched the Complaint Builder a year ago. If we can draft the complaint, we should be able to draft the answer to it. Now we can.”
